A mixed media fiber piece that is a portrait of two women I met in a remote Vietnamese Village.
When climbing ancient hills in the rain I met these wonderful ethnic women. They are from the Black H’mong people, one of over 50 different groups of ethnic people that are part of Vietnam. The women spoke a bit of English and described their life as weavers of flax and dyers of cloth. The indigo dye they use is very dark blue and that is why they are described as black H’mong. They were both mothers and grandmothers raising a family in a remote village and augmenting their husbands farming with their wonderful batik cloth.
