A mixed media/fiber piece that started as a piece representing when God created birds and fish, but evolved into being more playful.

In college I was a zoology major, and I had a class that I had to memorize the names of all the genus and species. Animals start with amoeba and evolve through bacteria, and then into small swimming animals in the water. In the sea fish evolved into many distinct species. Meanwhile reptiles were evolving on land while their close cousins the birds grew wings and feathers and took to the sky.

When I was doing a series on ”origins. This would be day 4 in the creation story. I had fun focusing on the sea and the sky. It was a joy to play with paints to create water and sky fabric. I added the fish and birds. The fish are jumping, and the birds are diving at each other.
