A small mixed media/fiber piece created as I kept hoping for Spring to arrive.
Theoretically it was Spring here in the Rocky Mountains. It had been a long, cold winter and I was looking for some sign of actual Spring arriving.
I decided to make an excursion to the Denver Botanical Gardens. Surely, they would have a few early budding trees and spring bulbs. Unfortunately, there was no bright green color to be found. Yes, there were a few bulbs growing, but they were in relatively pale colors such as lavender.
I wandered into my favorite are of the gardens, The Japanese Garden. The koi in the pond were lethargic. There was not a bright color to be found. But these gardens are exceptionally beautiful, even when it is still more like late winter. I decided to just relax, and dream of what Spring would be like. It had to happen soon. In the meantime, I had found a sense of peace.
I returned home to my studio deciding to create the artwork that felt more like Spring. I used hand marbled cloth, and layers of small pieces, collaged and then stitched to create this piece.
